With more than two productive decades of medical practice as a plastic surgeon and with numerous feathers on his cap to boot, Dr. Loren Borud has indeed contributed so much to an industry that he loves and has dedicated his life to. Aside from actively pursuing his profession as a surgeon, he also unselfishly imparted his vast wealth of knowledge and skills as an Instructor and eventually as an Assistant Professor in Harvard Medical School, his alma mater. For eight prolific years, he taught and mentored Harvard plastic surgery resident and medical students. During this period, he founded program for Body Contouring after Massive Weight Loss (MWL), accumulated prime experience in the body sculpting in New England and won national and international recognitions for this innovative program. In line with this, he founded and was rewarded grant funding for Fellowship in Body Contouring Surgery, the first and the only of such fellowships in United States.

Excelling and relentlessly fortifying the science of medical specialty that deals with the correction or restoration of form and function, Dr. Loren Borud created Borud Consulting and the Plastic Surgery Network, Inc. in 2008. This consulting agency provides valuable consulting services to biotechnology and medical device companies, surgical products companies and also offers private equity and venture capital advice to those who want to invest in the medical industry. This Stanford and Harvard educated doctor, loaded with experience, skills and know-how gained from private practice, award-winning researches and teaching produced a powerful think tank president for Borud Consulting. His several board certifications gained from prestigious authorities in his field such as the American Society for Plastic Surgeons, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, Northeastern Society Of Plastic Surgeons and the New England Society of Plastic Surgeons more than prove and attest to his aptitude as a surgeon and consultant.

And recently, with the release of his book, Plastikonomics: What I Learned as A Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Loren Borud takes his readers into the economic side of plastic surgery – the fiscal and social impact of aesthetic pursuit to surgeons and the country as well. He lets readers peek into the lives of his fellow surgeons and detailed the exacting training and education demanded by his profession.
